{"id":9910,"date":"2025-06-04T19:18:16","date_gmt":"2025-06-04T19:18:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bluelightnews.com\/category\/politics\/comer-expands-probe-on-bidens-mental-decline-requests-interviews-with-more-former-aides\/"},"modified":"2025-06-04T19:18:16","modified_gmt":"2025-06-04T19:18:16","slug":"comer-expands-probe-on-bidens-mental-decline-requests-interviews-with-more-former-aides","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bluelightnews.com\/category\/politics\/comer-expands-probe-on-bidens-mental-decline-requests-interviews-with-more-former-aides\/","title":{"rendered":"Comer expands probe on Biden&#8217;s mental decline, requests interviews with more former aides"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer is broadening his investigation into former President Joe Biden\u2019s mental decline.<\/p>\n<p>Comer on Wednesday asked five senior Biden White House aides to appear for transcribed interviews with his committee: former senior adviser Mike Donilon, former senior adviser Anita Dunn; former chief of staff Ron Klain; former deputy chief of staff Bruce Reed and former counselor Steve Ricchetti.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is investigating the role of former senior White House officials in possibly usurping authority from former President Joe Biden and the ramifications of a White House staff intent on hiding his rapidly worsening mental and physical faculties,\u201d Comer wrote to the former White House aides.<\/p>\n<p>Comer last month asked for testimony from four former senior aides \u2014 Annie Tomasini, Anthony Bernal, Ashley Williams and Neera Tanden \u2014 and Biden\u2019s physician Kevin O\u2019Connor. His inquiry into Biden comes amid renewed scrutiny in Washington over the former president\u2019s mental fitness toward the end of his term, ballyhooed by a much-discussed book by BLN\u2019s Jake Tapper and Axios\u2019 Alex Thompson.<\/p>\n<p>In a brief interview, Comer said some witnesses were already working with the committee. He expects some will appear for their testimony before the committee in the next few weeks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re cooperating,\u201d he told Blue Light News. \u201cHopefully, we\u2019ll be able to announce some dates within the next 24 hours of when those first 5 will be coming in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Kentucky Republican, who is mulling a bid for governor in 2027, previously led an impeachment inquiry into the former president.
