Marjorie Taylor Greene lashed out at Rep. Mike Lawler first, noting his tenuous grip on his suburban New York seat and questioning why effort to help him and other Blue State Republicans with an increase in the SALT deduction.<\/p>\n<p>Legislation released this week by the House Ways and Means Committee increased the cap on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/live-updates\/2025\/05\/12\/congress\/house-gop-plans-to-triple-cap-on-state-local-tax-deduction-add-income-limit-00341655\" target=\"_blank\">state and local tax deduction to $30,000<\/a>. But so-called SALT Republicans, including New Yorkers Lawler and Nick LaLota, aren\u2019t satisfied. They\u2019ve <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/live-updates\/2025\/05\/14\/congress\/jason-smith-salt-deal-50-billion-00347925\" target=\"_blank\">threatened to withhold their votes<\/a> from the GOP\u2019s domestic policy package.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMike Lawler has a toss up seat,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RepMTG\/status\/1922735383433052414\" target=\"_blank\">Greene wrote on X on Wednesday<\/a>. \u201cWhat\u2019s the point in Republicans fighting to protect and keep re-electing &#8216;Republicans&#8217; if they constantly undermine the agenda America voted for???\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lawler\u2019s reply was scathing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShockingly the &#8216;Jewish Space Laser&#8217; lady once again doesn\u2019t have a clue what she is talking about,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/lawler4ny\/status\/1922748132929974494\" target=\"_blank\">he wrote in response<\/a>. \u201cBy the way, the reason you enjoy a gavel is because Republicans like me have won our seats. Good luck being in the Majority if we don\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lawler has long been a critic of the Georgia Republican. In May 2024, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RepMikeLawler\/status\/1788324658070090159\" target=\"_blank\">he panned her<\/a> effort to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/live-updates\/2024\/05\/08\/congress\/breaking-down-defeat-of-johnson-ouster-effort-greene-00156909\" target=\"_blank\">remove House Speaker Mike Johnson<\/a> from his post overseeing the Republican Caucus, calling it \u201clunacy\u201d and a \u201ctemper tantrum.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHere is Mike Lawler claiming HE gave us the majority NOT President Donald Trump!!!,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RepMTG\/status\/1922765935447838765\" target=\"_blank\">Greene wrote in a repost of Lawler\u2019s comment<\/a>. \u201cDid you all vote for Mike Lawler and his agenda???\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In his response, Lawler played up his overperformance in New York\u2019s swingy 17th district \u2014 and his importance to a caucus that rules by the slimmest of margins.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m 1 of only 3 Republicans in a district won by Harris,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/lawler4ny\/status\/1922771113165164837\" target=\"_blank\">he wrote<\/a>. \u201cI know math is difficult, but: 220-3=217.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of the most vulnerable Republicans in Congress and one of the most outspoken are feuding over the cap on state and local deductions in the GOP\u2019s sweeping tax bill.
