Rahm Emanuel leaned into speculation about a 2028 presidential run on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

After hosts of ABC\u2019s \u201cThe View\u201d told him he sounded like a presidential contender, the former two-term Chicago mayor didn\u2019t exactly deny it.<\/p>\n

“I am in training \u2014 I don’t know if I’ll make the Olympics,\u201d said Emanuel, who served in both former presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden\u2019s administrations.<\/p>\n

Emanuel \u2014 a longtime critic of President Donald Trump \u2014 has said he wants to return to elected office and is said to have eyes on the presidency<\/a>. But it’s not just the Oval Office he’s been linked to. <\/p>\n

In recent months, Emanuel hasn\u2019t ruled out runs for just about every top job in Illinois \u2014 including the governor\u2019s mansion in 2026, Sen. Dick Durbin\u2019s seat and Chicago mayor in 2027. But his recent remark suggests he may be zeroing in on the White House.<\/p>\n

Leading up to the moment, Emanuel laid out what sounded like a campaign stump speech.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe American dream is unaffordable. The American dream is inaccessible,\u201d Emanuel said during the interview. \u201cAnd that should be unacceptable to all of us \u2026 Everybody in this audience, they just want one thing \u2014 for their kids to have a shot and the problem is Washington has given them the shaft and that is wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also took a swing at Trump\u2019s recent decision to accept a swanky new jet from Qatar.<\/p>\n

“The White House has a ‘For Sale’ sign on the front lawn \u2014 and everybody knows it,” Emanuel said.<\/p>\n

Emanuel\u2019s resume is long: U.S. ambassador to Japan under Biden, Obama\u2019s chief of staff, two-term mayor and congressman.
