Rob Menendez, LaMonica McIver and Bonnie Watson Coleman. \u201cThat\u2019s a red line. It\u2019s a red line, it\u2019s very clear.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2025\/05\/10\/ice-new-jersey-baraka-lawmakers-arrests-00340273\" target=\"_blank\">three Democrats were inspecting the new ICE facility<\/a>, which is set to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2025\/05\/05\/ice-facility-new-jersey-00326395\" target=\"_blank\">play a major role<\/a> in White House Northeast immigration operations, and were involved in a scrum when federal agents arrested Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, who authorities said was trespassing.<\/p>\n<p>A Department of Homeland Security spokesperson on Saturday <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2025\/05\/10\/ice-new-jersey-baraka-lawmakers-arrests-00340273\" target=\"_blank\">said arrests for the three<\/a> lawmakers were \u201con the table.\u201d Rep. Buddy Carter (R-Ga.) has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/live-updates\/2025\/05\/13\/congress\/new-jersey-democrats-committees-buddy-carter-00345479\" target=\"_blank\">proposed stripping them of committee<\/a> assignments.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirst of all, I think that the so-called homeland security spokesperson is a joke,\u201d Jeffries said. \u201cIt\u2019s a joke. They know better than to go down that road. And it\u2019s been made loudly and abundantly clear to the Trump administration.
