The Kentucky Republican has said clawing back clean energy tax credits, repealing electric vehicle incentives and reevaluating Biden administration broadband programs are among possible <a href=\"https:\/\/subscriber.politicopro.com\/article\/2025\/02\/guthrie-details-potential-cost-saving-options-for-gop-policy-bill-00204064\" target=\"_blank\">line items<\/a> on the chopping block.<\/p>\n<p>The biggest cost saver the committee has to work with, however, will come from Medicaid. Those changes could include making work requirements a condition of participation in the program; repealing Biden-era Medicaid rules; and examining the taxes states levy on doctors and hospitals to help pay for their share of Medicaid costs. <\/p>\n<p>Speaker <a href=\"https:\/\/directory.politicopro.com\/member\/242539\" target=\"_blank\" data-person-id=\"242539\">Mike Johnson<\/a> last week ruled out some of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/live-updates\/2025\/02\/26\/congress\/mike-johnson-steepest-medicaid-cut-options-00206397\" target=\"_blank\">steepest potential cuts to the program<\/a>, reiterating that Republicans want to target waste, fraud and abuse rather than eliminating services to many of the 70 million Americans who are currently Medicaid recipients.
