At a campaign event in Arizona on Thursday, Donald Trump<\/a> continued his pattern of using violent rhetoric to attack his political rivals, criticizing former Rep. Liz Cheney\u2019s hawkish foreign policy stance and suggesting she might not be a \u201cwar hawk\u201d if \u201cthe guns are trained on her face.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s a radical war hawk,\u201d Trump told former Fox News host Tucker Carlson onstage, calling Cheney a \u201cvery dumb individual.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her, OK? Let\u2019s see how she feels about it. You know, when the guns are trained on her face,\u201d the Republican presidential nominee <\/strong>said. \u201cYou know, they\u2019re all war hawks when they\u2019re sitting in Washington in a nice building, saying, \u2018Oh, gee, well, let\u2019s send \u2014 let\u2019s send 10,000 troops right into the mouth of the enemy.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump has used increasingly crude<\/a> and violent rhetoric <\/a>to attack his opponents in recent weeks, as polls<\/a> show him and Kamala Harris in a dead heat<\/a> in this election. At the Thursday event, he also called President Joe Biden a \u201cstupid bastard\u201d and referred to Harris as \u201ca sleazebag.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump has vowed to use the powers of the executive office to punish and prosecute his political rivals<\/a> if elected to a second term \u2014 a scenario that former federal law enforcement officials and legal experts told NBC News <\/a>would cause chaos and division.<\/p>\n

He has also singled out Cheney, who became one of his major targets for vocally criticizing his efforts to steal the 2020 election. <\/strong>In June, <\/strong>Trump shared an image on Truth Social <\/a>calling for a televised military tribunal for Cheney. <\/p>\n

She <\/strong>has recently campaigned with Harris<\/a>, urging her fellow anti-Trump Republicans to vote for the Democrat. Her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney \u2014\u00a0an architect of the Iraq War<\/a> in the early 2000s \u2014\u00a0has also crossed party lines to support Harris this election. <\/p>\n

The younger Cheney responded to Trump\u2019s remarks early on Friday, saying they amounted to a death threat. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis is how dictators destroy free nations,\u201d she wrote in a post on X. \u201cThey threaten those who speak against them with death. We cannot entrust our country and our freedom to a petty, vindictive, cruel, unstable man who wants to be a tyrant.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
