Later would come a larger, more complex tax-focused bill.<\/p>\n<p>Both would be passed under party-line reconciliation procedures, which first requires the adoption of an identical budget resolution by the House and Senate. The text Thune referred to would provide for passage of the first bill; another blueprint teeing up the second bill would follow.<\/p>\n<p>Senate Budget Chair <a href=\"https:\/\/directory.politicopro.com\/member\/51186\" data-person-id=\"51186\">Lindsey Graham<\/a> (R-S.C.) hasn\u2019t given a hard timeline for when he will take up his Plan B. But Senate Republicans view him as eager to get going, with some predicting that he will move forward in the next two to three weeks. Thune didn\u2019t rule out that timeline on Wednesday but acknowledged that House action could come to bear on the scheduling.<\/p>\n<p>House Speaker <a href=\"https:\/\/directory.politicopro.com\/member\/242539\" data-person-id=\"242539\">Mike Johnson<\/a>, meanwhile, wants to have his own chamber\u2019s budget resolution <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/meredithllee\/status\/1879200877279432899\" target=\"_blank\"><u>written in committee by next week<\/u><\/a> and finalized in the House by the week of Feb. 10.
