This month, Smith released his report into the election subversion case, arguing that he would have been able to obtain a conviction had Trump not won reelection in 2024, making him immune to prosecution.<\/p>\n<p>The report on the classified documents case has not been released, but outgoing Attorney General Merrick Garland intends to share it with House and Senate Judiciary Committee leaders.<\/p>\n<p>Jordan, an Ohio Republican, has repeatedly argued that Smith\u2019s efforts were politicized \u2014 which Smith forcefully denied in his report \u2014 and has <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2023\/12\/21\/house-republicans-threaten-subpoena-jack-smith-donald-trump-investigation-jim-jordan\/\" target=\"_blank\">already signaled<\/a> that he wants to hear from the special counsel. <\/p>\n<p>But now that one of Smith\u2019s reports is public and Smith has resigned from the Justice Department, it could pave the way for his testimony before his committee.
