But I can tell you this: The judiciary will be one of our strongest \u2014 if not our strongest \u2014 barrier against what he does,\u201d Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer told Playbook in an exclusive interview this week.<\/p>\n<p>Four years ago, Schumer launched a plan (along with President Joe Biden) to use the party\u2019s Senate majority to prioritize not just passing legislation, but also pushing through as many judicial nominations as possible.<\/p>\n<p>The result?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen we started out, we knew it would be a very difficult job to do more than Trump had done,\u201d said Schumer. \u201cBut we did: We got 235 \u2014 more than a quarter of the federal judiciary was appointed by our Senate and by the president.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/newsletters\/playbook\/2024\/12\/26\/how-schumer-is-prepping-for-trump-2-0-00196037\" target=\"_blank\">Read the rest of POLITICO&#8217;s interview with Schumer in Thursday&#8217;s Playbook<\/a>.
