Eric Swalwell.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe FBI is executing a federal search warrant\u201d at the Beverly Hills mansion, which is listed on Cloobeck\u2019s California business filings, a spokesperson for the FBI\u2019s Los Angeles field office said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>No arrests are planned, and the affidavit for the search warrant remains sealed, the spokesperson said. The FBI search was related to \u201can ongoing criminal investigation,\u201d a Justice Department spokesperson said in a statement, declining to provide further details.<\/p>\n<p>Cloobeck, a one-time California gubernatorial candidate, dropped his bid and donated more than $1 million to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/newsletters\/california-playbook\/2026\/03\/19\/the-rush-to-erase-chavezs-name-00835524\" target=\"_blank\">back Swalwell<\/a> after he declared his candidacy. But he later said he had cut ties with the former lawmaker after sexual assault allegations against Swalwell emerged.<\/p>\n<p>Swalwell resigned from Congress and dropped his gubernatorial bid but has denied the allegations. The Justice Department has launched a criminal investigation into Swalwell that included an FBI search of his Washington home in August, <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/eric-swalwell-sexual-misconduct-investigation-congress-4615d9309781afd72fc2cd3fb7d7c121\" target=\"_blank\">the AP reported at the time<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Cloobeck was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2026\/05\/13\/stephen-cloobeck-arrested-00918469\" target=\"_blank\">arrested in May<\/a> after Los Angeles County prosecutors charged him with allegedly attempting to impede victim or witness testimony. He was later released on bail and pleaded not guilty to all counts in August.<\/p>\n<p>Cloobeck and his attorney did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
