Arizona Sen. Ruben Gallego has been banging the drum for Democrats to pay attention to the disenfranchised, working-class moderate Latino voters that helped push him to a statewide win in 2024 \u2014 the same bloc that helped boost President Donald Trump back to the White House.<\/p>\n

Gallego has carved a lane as one of the party\u2019s loudest voices on the future of the Latino coalition. He hasn\u2019t shied away from carrying that message everywhere \u2014 and it\u2019s one that could serve his admitted 2028 ambitions<\/a> well.<\/p>\n

Now Gallego\u2019s kicking off a final push across several key gubernatorial and House battlegrounds, according to details shared exclusively with Blue Light News. And he\u2019s tracing a map of where Latino voters could be most critical for Democrats\u2019 path back to power.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ve been left behind in the past by Democrats,\u201d Gallego said in an interview. \u201cNow they feel they\u2019re left behind by Donald Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gallego is heading to Las Vegas on Monday to campaign with Democrat Aaron Ford, one of the party\u2019s top targets to flip a governor\u2019s seat. Nevada\u2019s a state where Latinos make up nearly 1 in 5 voters, with working-class roots and the major influence of groups like the Culinary Union \u2014 not to mention a key presidential swing state and an early one on the Democratic nominating calendar.<\/p>\n

Gallego\u2019s planning a canvass launch with the Culinary Union, a hit on Spanish radio and a roundtable with Latino veterans. On Tuesday, Gallego will be in Reno alongside Democrat Teresa Benitez-Thompson, who\u2019s looking to beat Republican David Flippo in Nevada\u2019s 2nd.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, the senator plans to travel to San Antonio to support Katy Padilla Stout in Texas\u2019 vacant 23rd District, the red rural seat formerly occupied by GOP Rep. Tony Gonzales, and then to El Paso for his second appearance this cycle with Democratic gubernatorial hopeful Gina Hinojosa.<\/p>\n

Rounding out the critical Latino voter races, Gallego\u2019s final stop Thursday will be in Miami, stumping for Democrat Eliott Rodriguez, who\u2019s taking on GOP Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar.<\/p>\n

Gallego wants to build on the momentum from last year\u2019s Miami mayor\u2019s race, which he said showed Democrats could regain ground with Latinos, along with Virginia and New Jersey\u2019s gubernatorial contests. \u201cThere was just this knee-jerk reaction that somehow the Latinos were responsible for 2024, and therefore we shouldn’t reward them with any type of investment,\u201d Gallego said. But after those race results came in, \u201cpeople finally realized like, \u2018Oh God, there is something there.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Is this a kickstarter for Gallego\u2019s own future?<\/p>\n

The senator dodged on whether his final midterms swing is laying the groundwork for a 2028 bid. \u201cWe\u2019re only focused on 2026,\u201d he said.
