Lindsey Graham\u2019s phone data.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou should be ashamed of yourself,\u201d the South Carolina Republican told Smith as he testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee, adding that the anguish the prosecutor caused her brother \u201cmakes me sick.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lindsey Graham, until his unexpected death in July, was among the most vocal in his outrage over revelations that Smith secretly collected electronic data from GOP lawmakers as part of the Biden-era investigation into President Donald Trump\u2019s efforts to overturn the 2020 election.<\/p>\n<p>The late senator was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2025\/11\/13\/senate-republicans-phones-sue-jack-smith-00651463\" target=\"_blank\"><u>also unapologetic<\/u><\/a> in his support for a provision tucked into a government funding package, which was later repealed, allowing senators to sue the federal government for $500,000 or more if they discover their electronic records were seized without notification \u2014 language specifically designed to compensate Smith\u2019s targets.<\/p>\n<p>But Smith replied that Lindsey Graham was not a target of his investigation and was not suspected of wrongdoing \u2014 in fact, he considered Darline Graham\u2019s brother \u201ca patriotic public servant\u201d who likely would have been a \u201cwitness\u201d in his case against Trump for attempted election subversion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour brother investigated the claims that Donald Trump was making,\u201d Smith told Darline Graham. \u201cHe found them to be false.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sen.
