Mills has denied any wrongdoing. By supporting Elijah, a former FOX 35 Orlando anchor, the lawmakers are attempting to rally behind one of the four Republicans in the running, with Democrats seeking a possible flip.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need leaders in Congress who serve with integrity, energy, and an unwavering commitment to the people who sent them there. Ryan Elijah is that leader,\u201d Luna and Haridopolos said on<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/realannapaulina\/status\/2084996241277010035?s=46\" target=\"_blank\">social media<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But aside from backing Elijah, Luna went further to say Mills should drop out of the race.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe needs to not be seeking reelection,\u201d Luna said in a text message to Blue Light News.<\/p>\n<p>Elijah faces an Aug. 18 primary headlined by Mills, whom President Donald Trump endorsed as a \u201cSuccessful Entrepreneur, and Brave U.S. Army Combat Veteran and Bronze Star recipient.\u201d The race also features Michael Don Johnson, an Army veteran and former Army intelligence specialist who<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2026\/07\/17\/florida-judge-tosses-mills-eligibility-lawsuit-01002836\" target=\"_blank\">sued in a failed attempt<\/a> to kick Mills off the ballot, and businesswoman Sarah Ulrich.<\/p>\n<p>Elijah maintains that attacking Mills has not been a focus of his campaign, as he instead tells voters the allegations against his opponent are serious and that the House Ethics panel should continue its probe.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I\u2019m honored to have the endorsements of two Florida Representatives I deeply respect,\u201d Elijah said in a statement to Blue Light News. \u201cThey understand what\u2019s at stake in our congressional race and know I\u2019m the clear choice to win in November.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mills did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the endorsement.<\/p>\n<p><i>Kimbery Leonard and Meredith Lee Hill contributed to this report.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TALLAHASSEE, Florida \u2014 Two Florida Republican House members \u2014 Reps.
