{"id":21313,"date":"2026-04-14T20:16:52","date_gmt":"2026-04-14T20:16:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bluelightnews.com\/category\/politics\/house-gop-ramps-up-pressure-on-actblue\/"},"modified":"2026-04-14T20:16:52","modified_gmt":"2026-04-14T20:16:52","slug":"house-gop-ramps-up-pressure-on-actblue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bluelightnews.com\/category\/politics\/house-gop-ramps-up-pressure-on-actblue\/","title":{"rendered":"House GOP ramps up pressure on ActBlue"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>The Republican chairs of three House committees are ramping up their probe into whether ActBlue, the Democratic online fundraising platform, misled members of Congress about its vetting of potential illegal foreign donations.<\/p>\n<p>House Administration Chair <a href=\"https:\/\/directory.politicopro.com\/member\/32319\" data-person-id=\"32319\">Bryan Steil<\/a> (R-Wisc.), House Judiciary Chair <a href=\"https:\/\/directory.politicopro.com\/member\/51745\" data-person-id=\"51745\">Jim Jordan<\/a> (R-Ohio) and House Oversight Chair <a href=\"https:\/\/directory.politicopro.com\/member\/260072\" data-person-id=\"260072\">James Comer<\/a> (R-Ky.) sent <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/HouseAdmin\/status\/2044087240431706303\" target=\"_blank\">a letter to ActBlue CEO Regina Wallace-Jones on Tuesday<\/a> requesting additional documents under subpoenas issued last year in their investigation into whether the platform knowingly accepted political donations from foreign nationals.<\/p>\n<p>The letter points to a New York Times report that ActBlue\u2019s then-outside counsel was concerned that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/04\/02\/us\/politics\/actblue-democrat-fundraising-foreign-donations.html\" target=\"_blank\">Wallace-Jones may have<\/a> misled congressional investigators in a 2023 letter to Steil\u2019s committee regarding ActBlue\u2019s vetting of foreign donations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiven ActBlue\u2019s demonstrated history of misleading Congress, there is considerable reason to believe that ActBlue may have deliberately withheld this responsive material to impede our investigation,\u201d the letter said.<\/p>\n<p>The committee chairs also accuse ActBlue of obstructing their investigations through \u201cnoncompliance with our subpoenas.\u201d They requested ActBlue comply by April 28.<\/p>\n<p>ActBlue did not immediately respond to a request for comment, and Blue Light News has not independently verified the documents cited in the New York Times story. But <a href=\"https:\/\/www.actblue.com\/posts\/the-unfiltered-truth\/\" target=\"_blank\">a post from ActBlue<\/a> shortly after The Times\u2019 story was published said Wallace-Jones \u201cnever made false statements to Congress. Her correspondence was reviewed and approved by multiple in-house and outside attorneys before it was submitted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Democrats have largely insisted that the House GOP probe into ActBlue, which powers Democrats\u2019 online fundraising advantage, is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2025\/06\/09\/actblue-letter-republican-congressional-investigation-00394531\" target=\"_blank\">politically motivated and without evidence<\/a>. President Donald Trump has also repeatedly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2025\/05\/21\/actblue-ceo-wallace-jones-trump-response-00361428\" target=\"_blank\">called for probes into the donor platform<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe almost were in a, \u2018This can\u2019t be real, this can\u2019t be serious.
