Stacey Plaskett on Wednesday expressed no regret for her prior contact with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein during a 2019 House Oversight Committee hearing.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with BLN\u2019s \u201cThe Situation Room,\u201d the Democrat acknowledged that she initiated contact with the disgraced financier on the day she was set to question President Donald Trump\u2019s former fixer Michael Cohen but refused to say if she regretted the communication.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe that Jeffrey Epstein had information, and I was going to get information to get at the truth,\u201d Plaskett said. \u201cI\u2019m moving forward, and I think that that\u2019s what we as American people should do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Plaskett, who drew scrutiny recently following the release of documents from the Epstein estate that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2025\/11\/14\/epstein-text-messages-cohen-house-hearing\/\" target=\"_blank\">revealed her texts with him<\/a>, argued that Epstein was a constituent and that \u201clots of people were texting me. Lots of people were giving me information.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been a prosecutor for many years, and there are a lot of people who have information that are not your friends that you use to get information,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Still, she admitted that she \u201cprobably\u201d would not have asked Cohen about former Trump executive assistant Rhona Graff if Epstein had not mentioned it to her first in their texts.<\/p>\n<p>During the hearing, Cohen accused Trump of financial fraud, mentioning Graff in his testimony. Epstein appeared to flag the name to Plaskett.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCohen brought up RONA &#8211; keeper of the secrets,\u201d Epstein texted, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2025\/11\/14\/epstein-text-messages-cohen-house-hearing\/\" target=\"_blank\">according to The Washington Post<\/a>. The person believed to be Plaskett asked who \u2014 or what \u2014 RONA was, adding \u201cQuick I\u2019m up next is that an acronym.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Epstein replied \u201cRONA\u201d was actually Trump\u2019s former assistant. Plaskett then questioned Cohen about Graff, who said she was \u201cinvolved in a lot that went on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Plaskett <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/live-updates\/2025\/11\/18\/congress\/stacey-plaskett-escapes-censure-vote-epstein-texts-00658334\" target=\"_blank\">narrowly avoided a censure<\/a> in the House on Tuesday, with lawmakers voting 209-214 against formally reprimanding the delegate and removing her from the House Intelligence Committee.<\/p>\n<p>Both the House and Senate have officially passed legislation forcing the Justice Department to release more information about the federal case it built against Epstein. It now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/live-updates\/2025\/11\/19\/congress\/senate-clears-epstein-files-bill-00659041\" target=\"_blank\">heads to Trump\u2019s desk<\/a> for his signature.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Virgin Islands Del.
