Morgan, Deutsche Bank and US Virgin Islands"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Republicans are pushing ahead with an investigation into the activities of Jeffrey Epstein \u2014 even as legislation forcing the release of all Department of Justice files on the late sex offender appears to be heading to President Donald Trump for a signature.<\/p>\n<p>The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform issued a series of subpoenas Tuesday for some of Epstein&#8217;s financial records. <\/p>\n<p>Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), chairman of the committee, issued subpoenas to J.P. Morgan Chase and Deutsche Bank and requested additional documents from U.S. Virgin Islands Attorney General Gordon Rhea.<\/p>\n<p>According to the subpoenas, J.P. Morgan Chase began an internal investigation into accounts previously held by Epstein, flagging some 4,700 transactions as \u201csuspicious\u201d in the process. Epstein also held accounts at and banked with Deutsche Bank from 2013 until potentially late 2018, the subpoenas state.<\/p>\n<p>The letter to Rhea comes after documents released last week reveal that Del. Stacey Plaskett <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2025\/11\/14\/epstein-text-messages-cohen-house-hearing\/\" target=\"_blank\">consulted with Epstein<\/a>during a 2019 hearing with Trump\u2019s personal lawyer Michael Cohen. Epstein previously owned the islands of Little St. James and Great St. James. The House on Tuesday <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/live-updates\/2025\/11\/18\/congress\/stacey-plaskett-house-censure-vote-epstein-00657247\" target=\"_blank\">will vote to censure Plaskett<\/a> and remove her from the House Intelligence Committee. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe records sought by this subpoena will assist in the Committee\u2019s oversight of the federal government\u2019s enforcement of sex trafficking laws generally and specifically its handling of the investigation and prosecution of Mr. Jeffrey Epstein and Ms. Ghislaine Maxwell,\u201d the subpoenas to the banks read.<\/p>\n<p>The subpoenas were announced just after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2025\/11\/18\/house-approves-epstein-files-bill-in-near-unanimous-vote-00656764\" target=\"_blank\">the House and Senate voted overwhelmingly<\/a> to force the Justice Department to release more information about the case it built against Epstein. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Republicans are pushing ahead with an investigation into the activities of Jeffrey Epstein \u2014 even as legislation forcing the release of all Department of Justice files on the late sex offender appears to be heading to President Donald Trump for a signature.
