We can do some things on policy, taxes and spending.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As Budget Committee chair, the South Carolina Republican in essence quarterbacks the party-line reconciliation process that would allow the Senate GOP to skirt a Democratic filibuster. His panel is responsible for crafting the budget resolution that unlocks the subsequent policy legislation that can pass with a simple majority.<\/p>\n<p>Graham\u2019s comments after Sen. <a href=\"https:\/\/directory.politicopro.com\/member\/260075\" data-person-id=\"260075\">John Kennedy<\/a> (R-La.) told reporters Wednesday that Graham was convening a meeting of Budget Committee Republicans. Graham confirmed he is meeting with fellow GOP senators.<\/p>\n<p>Passing another reconciliation bill after this summer\u2019s megabill <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2025\/08\/11\/another-megabill-senate-republicans-have-their-doubts-00499987\" target=\"_blank\">would be a heavy lift<\/a>, and there&#8217;s plenty of skepticism that there\u2019s enough of an appetite inside the slim House and Senate GOP majorities to get a bill across the finish line.<\/p>\n<p>But Graham said he mentioned the idea to President Donald Trump and there&#8217;s a \u201cgrowing desire\u201d within the conference to act.
