Andy Barr has maintained his early fundraising edge in the crowded Republican primary to succeed GOP Sen. Mitch McConnell in Kentucky.<\/p>\n<p>Barr raised $1.8 million between the beginning of July and the end of September and ended the quarter with $6.7 million in the bank, according to his Wednesday <a href=\"https:\/\/docquery.fec.gov\/cgi-bin\/forms\/C00467571\/1920742\/\" target=\"_blank\"><u>filing with the Federal Election Commission<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Barr\u2019s robust war chest \u2014 three times larger than his two competitors\u2019 combined \u2014 underscores his sustained momentum in the high-profile race. He also had a cash-on-hand advantage at the end of the second quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Businessman Nate Morris raised $4 million, but the bulk of that \u2014 roughly $3 million \u2014 came from a personal loan, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/docquery.fec.gov\/cgi-bin\/forms\/C00909705\/1920760\/\" target=\"_blank\"><u>his Wednesday filing<\/u><\/a>. He ended the third quarter with just over $1 million cash on hand.<\/p>\n<p>Former Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron again posted modest fundraising numbers, raising $411,000 and ending the third quarter with just under $630,000 on hand, <a href=\"https:\/\/docquery.fec.gov\/cgi-bin\/forms\/C00898189\/1921541\" target=\"_blank\"><u>according to his filing<\/u><\/a>. That follows relatively <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/live-updates\/2025\/07\/15\/congress\/daniel-cameron-senate-fundraising-00455699\" target=\"_blank\"><u>low second quarter<\/u><\/a> fundraising, when he brought in just over $385,000, raising questions about the longevity of his campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Kentucky\u2019s Republican primary, shaping up to be among the most expensive and competitive 2026 Senate primaries, has emerged as a bellwether for the direction of the Republican Party.<\/p>\n<p>All three leading GOP candidates <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/09\/25\/politics\/mitch-mcconnell-kentucky-senate-primary\" target=\"_blank\"><u>interned for McConnell<\/u><\/a> at some point in their career \u2014 but are now trying to distance themselves from the longtime Senate Republican leader.
