Marjorie Taylor Greene will not run for Georgia governor next year, she said Tuesday, after already ruling out a campaign for the Senate earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>But that\u2019s not to say she doesn&#8217;t think she\u2019d win.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf I was running for governor the entire world would know it because I would be all over the state of Georgia campaigning, I would have ads running, I would be raising scary amounts of money, and I would literally clear the field,\u201d the Republican <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/mtgreenee\/status\/1950260132543144302\" target=\"_blank\">said Tuesday in a post on X<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, Greene assailed Georgia\u2019s GOP leadership and chalked up her decision to remain in the House to what she termed \u201ca very established \u2018men only\u2019 Republican firm\u201d that is overseeing the state\u2019s \u201cslow slide from red to blue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe \u2018I\u2019ll scratch your back if you scratch mine\u2019 wheeling and dealing at the hunting clubs and country clubs does not reflect the sentiment and issues of the vast majority of Georgia voters,\u201d she charged.<\/p>\n<p>The three-term lawmaker, a bombastic MAGA Republican and ally to President Donald Trump, sits on the powerful House Oversight Committee and is chair of the chamber\u2019s DOGE subcommittee.<\/p>\n<p>But despite long enjoying a warm relationship with Trump, Greene has in recent weeks lashed out at elements of his leadership, slamming the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/live-updates\/2025\/07\/24\/congress\/marjorie-taylor-greene-ai-trump-00474396\" target=\"_blank\">president\u2019s executive order on artificial intelligence<\/a> and cautioning him that \u201cdangling bits of red meat no longer satisfies\u201d in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2025\/07\/21\/mtg-trump-epstein-red-meat-no-longer-satisfies-00465179\" target=\"_blank\">Jeffrey Epstein case<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Brian Kemp, the state\u2019s popular Republican governor, is term limited. Greene\u2019s decision leaves Burt Jones, the state\u2019s lieutenant governor, and Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr as the two major Republican candidates <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/burt-jones-republican-georgia-lieutenant-governor-2026-62ac32083e0792cd55a5014e4a5e8bc8\" target=\"_blank\">battling for their party\u2019s nomination<\/a>. Former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, state Sen. Jason Esteves and state Rep. Derrick Jackson are running on the Democratic side.<\/p>\n<p>But Greene did tease a future statewide campaign.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne day, I might just run purely out of the blessing of the wonderful people of Georgia, my family and friends, but it won\u2019t be in 2026,\u201d Greene said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rep.
