But privately, his whip team is scrambling to shore up enough votes among wary Republicans.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We think we have the votes. We\u2019re going ahead with it,\u201d Johnson said. Asked about one vocal GOP holdout \u2014 Don Bacon of Nebraska, who raised concerned about public media and AIDS funding cuts \u2014 he said, \u201cI believe Mr. Bacon is going to be just fine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Republican leaders have been tracking seven potential GOP &#8220;no&#8221; votes \u2014- enough to block the measure on the floor, depending on how many Democrats are absent.
