President Donald Trump and former ally Elon Musk appear ready to mend fences after Musk\u2019s offensive against the president\u2019s \u201cbig beautiful bill\u201d spilled over into a blowout battle between the two men on social media.<\/p>\n

Trump said he had \u201cno hard feelings\u201d for his onetime pal in an interview with The New York Post\u2019s \u201cPod Force One\u201d<\/a> that published Wednesday, signaling the potential start of a truce between the two feuding billionaires and social media network owners.<\/p>\n

\u201cLook, I have no hard feelings. I was really surprised that that happened. He went after a bill that\u2019s phenomenal, that\u2019s the best thing we\u2019ve ever signed in this country,\u201d Trump said, adding that he was \u201cnot a happy camper\u201d at the time.<\/p>\n

But patching things up with his erstwhile adviser doesn\u2019t rank among Trump\u2019s top priorities.<\/p>\n

\u201cI guess I could, but we have to straighten out the country,\u201d Trump said when asked if he and Musk could repair their relationship. \u201cAnd my sole function now is getting this country back to a level higher than it\u2019s ever been. And I think we can do that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump just last week threatened to cut off<\/a> billions in federal contracts from Musk\u2019s companies, as the online fight between the two men took a turn for the worse.<\/p>\n

Still, Trump in the interview \u2014 which was recorded Monday \u2014 said he believed Musk felt \u201cvery badly\u201d for his attacks, adding that he \u201chadn\u2019t thought too much about\u201d his former ally \u201cin the last little while.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hours before the interview went live, Musk posted an overnight confession of regret for his treatment of the president.<\/p>\n

Just hours before Wednesday\u2019s episode aired, Musk penned a post on X<\/a>, admitting he \u201cwent too far\u201d in criticizing the president during their fight last week, which included Musk accusing his former boss of being named in the Epstein files in a since-deleted post, claiming credit for Republicans\u2019 trifecta win in November and attacking Trump\u2019s prized \u201cbig beautiful bill\u201d as a \u201cdisgusting abomination<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far,\u201d the billionaire wrote<\/a> in a post early Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n

Trump had previously projected an air of calm in the wake of his social media scrap with Musk as White House officials and allies sought to deescalate the situation, which they worried was drawing attention away from administration priorities.<\/p>\n
