‘Black death’ kills man in China and 30,000 people are put into quarantine
‘China has sealed off parts of its northwestern city of Yumen after a resident died of bubonic plague last week, state media reported on Tuesday.
A 38-year-old victim was infected by a marmot, a wild rodent, and died on July 16. Several districts of the city of about 100,000 people in Gansu province were subsequently turned into special quarantine zones, state news agency Xinhua said.
It said 151 people who came into direct contact with the victim were also placed in quarantine.’
Well, thank you, Sonia Poulton
High doses of antidepressants increase self-harm in children: Harvard
High doses of brain-altering chemicals marketed as "anti-depressants" increase the likelihood of self-harm, rather than decreasing the risk, say Harvard health scientists in a study that analyzed data on 162,625 people.
Drugs known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI's) may raise the risk of suicidal behavior in children and young adults, according to the analysis. SSRI's are the chemical substances which make up the antidepressants Prozac and Zoloft.
Big Ag corporations trying to blur the lines between organic and GMOs
‘Once upon a time in America, about 10 to 15 years ago, there existed a gray area, better known as “conventional” between genetically modified, toxic food and the other end of the spectrum — which is organic and truly natural. Yes, there are still some “conventional” farmers out there, but there’s no way for the general consumer to know whether or not that conventional crop is loaded with toxins, since GMOs have no warning labels whatsoever in the USA.
Quest of the Spiritual Warrior
A term we see increasingly these days is spiritual warrior: and though at first it may sound heroic and noble, when you really think it over it's just another oxymoron like military intelligence, & jumbo shrimp. Outwardly the spiritual warrior is one who champions the cause of spirituality by daily practicing it in a way which strengthens the soul and inspires others. On a deeper level the spiritual warrior forever walks the shadows between the darkness and the light, standing guard against those dark brothers in dark robes. Perhaps the greatest battle the spiritual warrior fights is the one within; coming to terms with the duality and dichotomy of existence itself.
Escaping The Spoken Trap
Words. What are they? Some would opine that words and how we use them are most important. They govern how we think, limit what thoughts we can have, and therefore even what reality we can formulate in our sensory perceptions as we interpret the energies around us.Language is obviously a bridge, but can also be a huge barrier. If we “know” that the only way to communicate to another is through the use of spoken language, but we don’t speak the same language, or if the words we use have various meanings and shades of meanings, then to even attempt communication is problematical, and may even be impossible.
Step Aside and Reverse the Flow
by Zen Gardner
There’s a very strange vibe that’s hit the past few days. Maybe I’m just overly sensitive to these things and it can often be personal situations, but I’m hearing it being echoed from several quarters. We’ve been discussing this at home as we’ve been hit strongly with experiencing this same wave of weirdness. What I find peculiar is that I’m not finding clear correlating news trends that usually accompany these sensations. Instead it’s the same old march to global madness–now our basic reality.
As if that isn’t bizarre enough.
It’s not comfortable nor empowering whatever this spiritual weather system is. It’s more of a scramble signal of some sort. It seems to seek to zap our energy and confuse our thinking and spiritual orientation. This of course is an ongoing phenomenon we all have to deal with but it
A Nuclear Waste Dump on the Shore of the Great Lakes?
‘Is dilution really the solution to pollution—especially when it’s nuclear waste that can stay radioactive for 100,000 years? A four-member expert group told a federal joint review panel it is.
The panel is examining an Ontario Power Generation proposal to bury low- and intermediate-level nuclear waste from the Darlington, Pickering and Bruce nuclear plants in limestone at the Bruce site in Kincardine, beside Lake Huron. According to the Toronto Star, the experts reported that 1,000 cubic meters of contaminated water could leak from the site, although it’s “highly improbable.” But even if it did leak, they argued, the amount is small compared to Lake Huron’s water volume and the quantity of rain that falls into it.’
The Bernaysian Manipulation of the Human Psyche
‘Edward Bernays was the master of influencing and shaping public opinion who developed upon the ideas of earlier social psychologists and the work of his uncle, Sigmund Freud, in order to create techniques to manipulate the subconscious desires of the masses.
Throughout his 103-year lifespan, the “father of public relations” was at the pinnacle of his field advising US Presidents Coolidge, Eisenhower, Hoover and Wilson, as well as inventor Thomas Edison, US industrialist Henry Ford and First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. He also reportedly refused invitations by Hitler and Franco to work on fascist propaganda campaigns in Europe.’
